Grace in the Old Testament and Judgment in the New

I had a debate with someone at Twitter who is a Mormon or a former Mormon. He said the God of the Old Testament is not like the God of the New Testament, and his implication was that the God of the Old Testament is a monster because He is not a God of Grace. Instead, He is a God of harsh judgment. So I asked him if he'd ever read the book of Revelation. I pointed him to verses like Revelation 19:14-16, "And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." The judgments in Revelation are reminiscent of the Judgments in Egypt during the days of Moses -- and even before and beyond that time. They are the most catastrophic judgments to st...

Luke 19 and the views of Dr David Wood and Sam Harris

I was watching a video by David Wood at YouTube, and I have included it at the end of this post. Around the six-minute mark, Dr Wood discusses the dishonesty of Sam Harris. Sam Harris points to Luke 19:11-27 to prove that Jesus wanted His disciples to slay His enemies in front of Him. Dr. Wood then goes on to explain that Luke 19:11-27 is a parable. It is commonly known as the Parable of the Ten Minas. It tells the story of a king who rewards or punishes his servants based on their service. Dr. Wood points out that the parable is based on a true story. I don't dispute that at all. It is probably inspired, at least in part, by the life of Herod Archelaus, the son of Herod the Great. As David Wood says in the video, after Herod the Great died, Herod Archelaus went to Rome. He went there to be granted part of his father's kingdom by Caesar Augustus. The subjects of Archelaus had rebelled against him and did not want him to rule over them. After receiving his kingdom from Caesar A...

The Original Version of Last Days Bible Prophecies Happening Now

I have had a lot of problems at youtube lately. Because my video, Last Day Bible Prophecies Happening Now and More Getting Ready to Happen , is politically incorrect, I had to crop it to prevent it from being removed.  It was published in February 2015, and it is the highest rated and most viewed video I have on my YouTube channel.  Below is the original, unedited version. It warns about Islam and an Islamic antichrist. Due to the recent events in Israel and worldwide, I think the video is more important than ever.    Thank you.

Why I changed the title

The original title of my book "Gehenna Revisited: Rebutting Francis Chan " was " Hell is a Place on Earth ." Both of those titles have had a lot of readers. The strongest title was "Hell is a Place on Earth ." It came out of the gate with nearly 100 downloads. The reason I changed the title was because I changed the approach in the book. The first book dealt extensively with the tradition that the Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna), had been a garbage dump at the time of Jesus. Many still hold to that view. However, Francis Chan took issue with that tradition in the book "Erasing Hell ." That title was co-authored with Dr. Preston Sprinkle. It came out before " Hell is a Place on Earth ," but I had not yet read it when I published my first title.  Francis Chan's teaching has had a large influence on opinions about the nature of Gehenna, and I consider it a negative influence. After thinking about his book for a while, I decided to rebut it....

Too many problems with the Book of Enoch

(Image: Hieronymus Bosch)   I have a high view of scripture. The science of Textual Criticism shows that what we have today is what was originally written down, and I believe that God inspired the words in the Holy Bible. I know God is infallible, but people are not. Even believers led by the Holy Spirit fail and fall.  With that said, I have faith in God's ability to give us the books He intends for us to have. He is not a God of confusion, yet many people who accept the Book of Enoch also accept other books as well, but in order to do that, they resort to casting doubts on the books that are accepted as Canon. Thanks to the Muratonian Canon, circa 180 AD, we know that 22 of the 27 books of the New Testament were already accepted as Canon by the end of the 2nd Century AD. (Apocryphal books were not added to the Catholic Canon until the Council of Trent in 1546 to rebut the reformation and Martin Luther.)  There are good reasons Apocryphal, Pseudepigraphal, and the variou...

What Happens NEXT? Chapter One

G od spent a lot of time on prophecy in Scripture, almost one-third of it, and even pointed to it as evidence that He is God (Isaiah 41:26 and Isaiah 46:9-10). It is frequently on my mind. I avoid talking about it because I don’t want to come across as one of those nuts with an end-times billboard. I leave that to the lovable homeless couple on the avenue, the ones who have the sign that reads, “The End is Near!” on one side and “Have a Nice Day!” on the other. They also have a sign that reads, “Be Positive!” I am positive. I’m positive I don’t want to be quite that colorful. I also doubt the tactic of carrying around a big, scary sign would be an effective strategy for me. I certainly don’t feel called to do it. I do, however, know that Jesus chastised those who did not understand or believe Bible prophecy (Luke 19:44 and 24:25), so this is an important subject that needs to be addressed somehow.     Sadly, many teachers either mock it or teach messages that do not full...
